Grzegorz Młynarczyk is the Founder and CEO of Software Mind, one of Europe’s leading software development companies. As its latest acquisition has increased international attention on its dynamic growth, now seemed an ideal time to check in with the Kraków-based company that has a Polish heart and global vision – read the interview with Grzegorz and find out more about Software Mind.
What is driving Software Mind’s ambitious growth plans?
We aim to be the software partner of choice for companies around the globe that want to disrupt. When Enterprise Investors, one of the largest private equity firms in Central and Eastern Europe, invested EUR 25 million in Software Mind in Dec 2020, we knew we could put our plans for dynamic growth into action.
First, we acquired Wrocław-based software house ValueLogic in April 2021, which strengthened our presence in the DACH market. In Dec 2021 Software Mind acquired Code Factory, a leading software developer in Moldavia and Romania, as a means of expanding our nearshore talent pool and adding new industries to our portfolio. While these two acquisitions are important, they are just the beginning. Further expansion is on the way as we are in talks to acquire additional software houses in various markets around the world.
How will these acquisitions, and Software Mind’s growth in general, impact the types of projects your teams work on and the clients they work with?
By increasing our own ability to ramp up and scale with our clients, we open doors to exiting partnerships with some of world’s leading companies, whether established market leaders or immerging disruptors. Increasing our talent pool and diversifying our portfolio enable us to take on more projects that would not have been possible in the past.
It means we can commit to more transformative projects with cutting-edge technology, whether it be related to cloud, data science or artificial intelligence. These international projects for disruptive clients bring professional clout and financial rewards for our developers and engineers.
Does acquiring two additional software houses mean Software Mind is accelerating its recruitment efforts?
Since we’re supporting game changers who often achieve hockey stick growth, we are always looking to add top-notch talent and advertise new vacancies every day. The most valuable, deciding factor in the IT world today is people, and that’s why companies’ fiercest competition is not actually over potential clients, but talents. We want to give people opportunities to develop their skillsets and learn new abilities, which is why we have teams dedicated to developing ground-breaking solutions with our cutting-edge toolbox.
What types of positions are you looking to fill?
The diversity of clients and projects we have, means we’re looking for skilled specialists to support all areas of the software development life cycle. Not just top-notch software and cloud engineers, but also QA experts, business analysts, product owners, scrum masters, Sec and DevOps, along with UX and UI designers.
Additionally, our team is looking for back-office personnel to ensure smooth running of operations. Essentially, if you’re looking to take on leadership responsibilities, are passionate about software and want to develop yourself, we have place for you on our team.
Why are IT talents attracted to Software Mind and willing to stay?
The dedication to software craftsmanship that we had 20 years ago is still the heart and soul of Software Mind. This company was founded to engineer innovative software and gather talented software minds that want to contribute, learn and develop.
Our atmosphere is open, direct and supportive, and though we’ve evolved from a Polish software house and become a global organization, we’ve retained our start-up culture and zest for continuous improvement. Talented experts join Software Mind because of the unique development opportunities that come from working on innovative international projects with evolutive technology.
Are there any specific benefits that Software Minders value?
Besides the additional in-house and external training opportunities, we’ve established guilds that cover various profiles, whose purpose is to help Software Minders enhance their skills and swiftly develop new abilities. These guilds liaise with our partners at various universities to organize speaking engagements and workshops, drive research projects, provide mentors and encourage professional and personal growth through wide-ranging initiatives.
Another benefit our team has really embraced is our Work n’ enjoy program, which gives Software Minders the chance to work abroad for two weeks in picturesque European locations. At our company, it’s important to combine employment with enjoyment. The well-being of our employees is paramount, which is why our flexible work models are designed to cater to different needs, lifestyles and ways of working.
